Examination structure

The examination system is progressive. Successful completion of the lower leves are required to enter the next.

Preparing for the exam

Certification is based on the content of the Safe to Play book; in essence a person who understands its content as applicable to the examination level is considered competent. Who has not taken Safe to Play training is encouraged to familiarize with the book and do self-study tasks.

Memorise the public questions! Failing in this part of the exam makes it difficult to pass the Design, Manage or Project level exams.

Making the exam

There are three types of 2P certification exams:

  • Written, true/false tests are Operate, Design, Manage, Project and the first part of Inspect*.
  • The second part of the Inspect* exam is an inspection whose report will be checked.
  • The Inspect** exam is a practical examination in the field.

The written S2P certification exams are performed in the S2P person register at user.s2p.fi. The applicant must have either a laptop or a tablet. The test is supervised at a registered examination, which is organized in connection with Safe to Play trainings, for example. Supervision takes place either in a classroom or via video connection.

In all exams, applicant can use any information source, such as a textbook, knowledge application, self-study tasks and notes. The benefit from the information sources are limited, because the examination time is limited.

Applicant may be granted extra time for making true/false exams. Extra time will be granted by applicant’s own request in the beginning of the exam. Request may be given for the supervisor using private chat, WhatsApp or email. The supervisor will add extra time for each applicant after the exam timer has started.

  • Making the exam with other than own mother tongue: +10%.
  • Moderate (level 3/4) dyslexia: +10%.
  • Severe (level 4/4) dyslexia: +20%.
  • Age over 60 years: +20%.

What if I get rejected?

Being nervous, or simply the fact that there was so much going on in the training that it hadn’t been processed at the time of the exam, can lead to the test result being rejected. In fact, according to the accrediters, the pass threshold should be such that no more than 90% of those who take the exam pass it. The Certification board sets the passing limits.

Safe to Play commits to each who takes the certification exam and those who fail will be guided through self-study to ensure they have opportunity to pass the exam later.
